The Essex Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra provides great training for wind, brass and percussion players. Conducted by Charles Hine, EYSWO come together to rehearse with two courses a year, one at Easter and one at Christmas and either a course or a tour in the summer term.

Essex Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra is an orchestra for advanced woodwind, brass and percussion players of Grade 5 and above. The orchestra play a wide range of styles and composers, and perform with the Essex Youth Brass Ensemble at various venues across Essex and go on tour biannually.

This orchestra runs courses in central locations of Essex during the main school holidays followed by concerts.  The orchestra tours to Europe – destinations have included Amsterdam, Belgium, France & Budapest.

Entry is by audition at the beginning of the academic year. Please see below for how to apply for an audition .
Charles Hine is deeply involved with the promotion of Wind music and especially its educational aspect, including being Chairman of the BASBWE (British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles) Education Trust and former Chairman of the national association of BASBWE. He has been a vice president of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain since the 1990’s.

Players of grade 5 standard are selected by audition from Essex schools and colleges, and participate in a schedule of short non-residential courses and concerts.

Time: Rep day in the Christmas holidays, plus short non-residential courses at Easter and in the summer
