We are delighted to announce that our Community Music Centres will be reopening in venues across the County from September.
This is the first phase of our return to community provision – not every venue is listed, but we will add more as we can as those are confirmed, particularly in and around Basildon, Brentwood, and Epping Forest
Group music making across the County
Our centres host group music making and musicianship development for young people regardless of instrument or ability.
Each Centre has an all-in ensemble for every member of the Centre which is free to any young person who has our provision elsewhere (such as 1-to-1 lessons in their school or in one of our Essex Music Schools). For others there is a nominal charge for this ensemble of £30.00 per term (£3.00 a week).
Alongside the all-in ensemble for students to enjoy and fine-tune their ensemble musicianship, students can also choose from a range of activities at each centre which will increase in number as the 2021-22 academic year progresses. Depending on venue, these activities can include percussion groups, choirs, rock bands, instrumental groups, music tech, musicianship – even a Grade 5 Theory Crash Course!
We run a special scheme for families on low incomes, who may be eligible for our music tuition discount. We also have discounts and schemes for Looked After Children in partnership with Essex Virtual School, and provide an assisted instrument purchase scheme – please contact us for more information of this.
Zoom in on the map above to see where our Community Music Centres are – Community Music Centres are indicated by a white quaver on a black background, and Essex Music Schools by a colourful piano – then simply click on the link of your chosen Centre to see their provision. You can change the view by clicking on the arrow on the top left of the map.
We will be opening up further Centres across the County throughout the 2021-22 Academic Year. A small number of our Community Music Centres are also Essex Music Schools, meaning your child can combine their activity within one setting, which have both a quaver and a piano on the map.
