Essex Music Education Hub was delighted to offer the inaugural Big-Sing project to Braintree Primary schools delivered in partnership with Mark De-Lisser.

Classroom Music Co-ordinators and representatives from each of the 18 Braintree primary schools involved in this project met Mark De-Lisser for the first time in May at the Twilight CPD session hosted at the John Bunyan School.  Mark introduced his own unique take on warm-ups plus the free resources needed for this singing project including his music arrangements, attention to vocal health and developing confidence within teaching staff.

Each school was then given an Essex Music Vocal Specialist to launch, develop and polish the music with the children.

The final phase of the singing project involved 18 primary schools grouped into three groups of 350 children.  Each group held its day workshop with Mark De-Lisser and his accompanying musicians. Due to the size of each group, the children performed in School Halls at three Secondary Schools in Braintree – Alec Hunter, Notley High School and Tabor Academy on 18, 20 or 22 June.

All children were then invited to a further singing workshop at Braintree Music School and a chance to perform on the main stage at our Sounds of Essex Music Festival in Chelmsford’s Central Park on 30 June 2018.
