Our specialist tutors work in schools, academies and colleges in Essex, in our Community Music Centres, and with our County Music Groups.
With our team of over 300 music tutors, Essex Music Services caters for vocal and instrumental lessons across the county. We monitor cold- and hotspots for instrumental teaching, and work with requests from schools to fulfil the musical needs of their students.
As an example, in 2018 we appointed a team of rap tutors to work with students in secondary schools, alongside our highly skilled and experienced teams of string, woodwind, brass, percussion, vocal, keyboard, music technology tutors, and our team of specialist teachers for SEND.
We supply our teaching in-school and in our evening and weekend Community Music Centres and have a team of specialist teachers for our Play-It! scheme to First Access page, where we provide 10 free sessions of whole-class instrumental tuition for KS2. Our tutors which run ensembles for schools have undergone specialist training, alongside supporting our County Music Groups.
Our tutors work with each student to encourage the best music-making from them, be that through entering for music exams (i.e. ABRSM, Trinity, LCM), local music competitions, and entry for national and international music conservatoires.
Our staff undergo Level 2 Safeguarding and Child Protection training at least once every two years, are registered with the DBS Update Service, and work within statutory guidelines set out by Essex County Council. They are mentored at least once per year for each part of their work with us, and, we run an unrivalled CPD/CPL programme for our staff, recently focusing on Technology in Teaching (2017), and SEND, Mindfulness and Connectivity (2018).
Our in-school hourly rate of tuition (1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020) is £30.45; Community Music Centre rates are arranged by package, and can be discussed with the Teacher in Charge at your local Centre as best suits your child.
