Essex Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra (EYSWO) provides great training for wind, brass and percussion players.
Conducted by Charles Hine, advanced woodwind, brass and percussion players of Grade 5 and above play a wide range of music and perform at various venues across Essex and also overseas.
Fifty talented young musicians from across Essex met for a recent EYSWO two-day course held at Felsted School where they explored some of the most well-known Wind Orchestral music such as Vaughan Williams’ Folk Song Suites, Nigel Hess’ Thames Journey and John Williams’ Star Wars.
Beverley Heard, Music Ensembles Lead Officer said of the EYSWO and the course “With so many talented woodwind players in the county, it is an important addition to our county music groups as it showcases all the players in repertoire that is exciting and resonates with them. The EYSWO is a unique sound world. It has all the colours of a symphony orchestra but without strings.”
The orchestra have an exciting year ahead culminating with a concert tour to the Czech Republic in August 2020 where they will play the music they rehearse throughout the year in concert in and around the beautiful city of Prague.
