Essex Youth Jazz Sextet made its first public performance of the new academic year at the Autumn Variety Concert held at Christ Church URC, Chelmsford on 1 November 2019, with its resident director, Martin Hathaway.

The Sextet entertained over 120 people alongside many other local performers, such as singers, bands and The Chelmsford Guitar Orchestra.

The second half of the concert started with the Jazz Group playing Little Man by Charles Famborough and All Blues by Miles Davis.  Gareth Bennett, the Music Minister at Christ Church, said “We were really enthralled by the Essex Youth Jazz Sextet making their first appearance at one of our concerts.  And we’re really looking forward to the start of a fruitful relationship between Christ Church and the Essex Young Musicians Trust”

The evening raised £300 which has been donated to the Essex Young Musicians Trust which in turn will help more young musicians to continue their musical journey, which is great news!.
