We offer choral training for all ages and abilities through our County Choirs Programme.  This programme runs fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from 5pm – 7.30pm at Chelmsford Community Music Centre.

Singers can attend sight-singing and aural classes and sing in an a Capella choir run by Emma Sweeney. Students can audition for choral scholarship which include singing lessons with Emma.

Essex Youth Choir is an advanced full choir that offers students aged 13-19 challenging and varied repertoire in their rehearsals. The choir meets for termly courses working towards concerts. Recently they performed Rutter’s Gloria at Chelmsford Cathedral accompanied Essex Youth Orchestra’s brass players. The choir’s next workshop is in April followed by a Tour to the Czech Republic in August.

Essex Youth Consort is a Chamber Choir of advanced singers who sing a wide range of unaccompanied and accompanied repertoire. As this group’s rehearsals are fast paced with challenging repertoire, singers are required to audition to become a member. The consort will be singing Even Song at Waltham Abbey in April and will join Essex Youth Choir on tour in the summer.

Both groups are directed by John Chillingworth
